Homes that make a good impression right off the bat sell faster, for more money and suffer fewer problems during the process. Don’t wait to get your home in good condition.

Look at your house through the “eyes of the buyer.” Walk through your home pretending you’ve never seen it before. What do you notice? Does it seem inviting? Is it well maintained? Would you buy this house?

Be aware of scents. Buyers are extremely sensitive to odors. Ask a friend for an objective opinion. Covering odors with air fresheners doesn’t work. Eliminate the odors, bathe pets, empty litter boxes, refrain from cooking pungent foods, empty trash, and clean all carpets and drapes. Do what’s necessary.

Spend the time and money on repairs. Picky buyers will magnify maintenance problems. Even small repairs will have buyers questioning the condition of your home. They expect everything in their new home to function properly and safely.

Clean everything thoroughly and remove all clutter. This alone will make your home appear bigger and brighter. Pay special attention to kitchens and bathrooms.
